Abstract

This paper examines the role of digital tools in the teaching and learning of mathematics, drawing principally on the theoretical framework proposed by Hoyles (2018), which categorises the contributions of technology into six domains. Three interrelated themes are explored: key considerations for technology deployment, benefits of digital environments including constructionist learning spaces, CAS, and semiotic mediation, and the pedagogical changes necessitated by technology adoption with particular attention to instrumental orchestration.
